Separation in industrial processes is a technology that enables the precise separation of gas, liquid or solid mixtures into their individual fractions. The quality of separation influences both the efficiency of production processes and the quality of the end product.
Depending on the medium and the aim of the separation, different processes are used:
-
Mechanical separation (sedimentation, sieving, cyclones),
-
Centrifugal separation (centrifuges, hydrocyclones),
-
Filtration separation (mechanical filters, fabric filters, membrane filters),
-
Thermal or chemical separation (distillation, extraction, absorption).
A properly designed separation system enables the recovery of valuable raw materials, the removal of impurities from technological processes and the protection of sensitive equipment from damage. In modern plants, separation is often combined with other cleaning processes to achieve maximum efficiency and minimum losses.
